How do I set a deposit and the cancellation rule?

Under Console › Policies › Confirming and paying, set the deposit as a percentage of the stay and until how many days before arrival cancelling is free; after that, the nights you name may be charged.

Your policies are what guests agree to when they book. They are shown on the booking form, in the confirmation and on each guest's own page.

Set the deposit

  1. Go to Console › Policies › Confirming and paying.
  2. In Deposit when booking (% of the stay), give the share of the total you ask for up front. 0 means no deposit.
  3. Press Save policies.

A rate plan paid In full when booking asks for the whole stay instead. How the deposit is paid is explained in Can guests pay a deposit by card or TWINT?

Set the cancellation rule

  1. In the same place, fill in Free cancellation until (days before arrival) — 2 unless you change it.
  2. In After that, nights charged, give how many nights a late cancellation costs — 1 unless you change it.
  3. Press Save policies.

A rate plan can have its own free-cancellation days, and a non-refundable plan means the whole stay is due. See How do I set prices and rate plans?

What happens when a guest cancels

The guest cancels from their own page, or you cancel for them with Cancel stay. Kwipps works out what your rule allows and shows it — to the guest before they press the button, and to you in the email or the console. Nothing is charged or refunded by itself: whether to charge the fee is your decision, and you post it on the stay's bill.
