How is the tourist tax worked out, and what do children pay?

Set the tax per person per night under Console › Policies › Taxes and the two ages your commune uses; the booking form asks for the children's ages and the bill follows the bands.

Updated 27 September 2026

The tourist tax is added on top of the price of the room, shown on its own line, and carries no VAT.

Set it up

  1. Go to Console › Policies › Taxes.
  2. Fill in Tourist tax per person per night.
  3. In Children pay nothing under (years), give the age under which children are free (12 unless you change it).
  4. If your commune has a half rate for older children, give its age limit in Children pay half under (years). 0 means nobody pays half.
  5. Press Save policies.

How it is counted

Every adult pays the full rate for every night. A child younger than the first age pays nothing; a child younger than the second pays half (rounded to five centimes); an older child pays the full rate. When a guest says they are bringing children, the booking form asks for their ages, and so do New stay and the stay itself in the console. A child whose age was not given pays nothing — correct the bill if they should.

The line on the bill reads, for example, "Tourist tax · 2 × 3 nights + 1 at half".

Tell the commune what you owe

Under Console › Today › This month, the figures start with the tourist tax on stays that began that month. Choose another month and press Show to see an earlier one.
