A deposit is never taken by itself: you decide, booking by booking, when to ask for one.
Set the rule
- Go to Console › Bookings and find Limits.
- Next to Ask for a deposit of, give the amount, and after "from parties of", the smallest party it applies to. Zero means you do not ask for deposits.
- Press Save.
Ask a guest for a deposit
- On Console › Tonight, a confirmed booking of that size or larger with an email address shows an Ask for … deposit button.
- Press it. The guest receives an email with a card link, good for 24 hours. The card is marked "Deposit … asked for", and the button becomes Send the deposit link again.
- When they pay, the card shows "Deposit … paid". The deposit comes off their bill on the night.
- If you need to give it back, press Refund deposit.
